Location:

Khuma Skills Centre

Date:

2020

Type:

COVID-19 Hand Sanitizer Manufacturing Project

A work based skills learning program endorsed by HWSETA, in partnership with Ruo & Rui Medicals. The project was based in the small Township of Khuma in Stilfontein near Klerksdorp and employed a total number of local 60 youth.

The objective of the program was to provide social relief by upskilling and economically empowering the youth, as well as to activate the local economy through manufacturing and distribution of hand Sanitizers & Masks at the Peak of the pandemic which threatened many livelihoods across the globe.

This enabled multiskilling of participants in various trades, as part of their work integrated learning. The youth were equipped with on the job skills and prepared them for working environments as they earned accredited certificates upon completion to assert themselves for their own personal development beyond the project.
